The rank of Police Corporal within the SWRPD acts as a Shift Supervisor.  In this capacity, the Corporal keeps Patrolmen informed regarding prior incidents and problem areas in the regional communities; issues memos to Patrolmen regarding the same; briefs patrolmen prior to start of shift (roll call); supervises patrol officers during the shift; reviews and approves various types of reports; responds to crime scenes at the request of officers; keeps the supervisors informed of issues of concern to them; trains and supervises probationary officers; and performs related functions.
