EXCEPTIONS TO BOOSTER SEATS:
A child over 4 but less than 8 years of age weighing less than 40 lbs. may, in lieu of use of a booster seat, be securely fastened in a child passenger restraint system (car seat) appropriate for their height and weight in accordance with the manufacturer recommendations.
A child between 4 and under 8 years of age who weighs more than 80 lbs. or who is 4 foot 9 inches or taller may be fastened in a vehicle seat belt system with out the use of a booster seat.
A child over 4 but less than 8 years of age, in a vehicle which was not originally equipped with a shoulder belt, shall be fastened in the seat belt with out the use of a booster seat or may be fastened in a child passenger restraint system (car seat) appropriate for their height an weight in accordance with the recommendations of the manufacturer.
MEDICAL EXCEPTION:
Exceptions from the use of a child passenger restraint system for medical reasons may be obtained upon written certification by a physician indicating that the use of a child passenger restraint system is impractical. (Contact your local health care provider).
